Financial Analysts Intern

Gardner Capital is a private equity firm focused on affordable housing and renewable energy development, investor, and tax credit syndicator with primary regional offices located in St. Louis, Missouri and Dallas, Texas.

Gardner Capital has a rapidly growing national platform and is looking to add to its team for the following role.

Position Overview:

The Financial Analyst Intern is a member of the Financial Planning & Analysis team, providing analytical support for budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, investment analysis, and portfolio reporting across Gardner Capital’s affordable housing and renewable energy businesses. This role offers hands-on exposure to real estate investment, structured finance, and corporate FP&A while working alongside experienced finance professionals on meaningful projects that support executive decision-making. The internship is designed to develop strong analytical, technical, and business acumen through practical experience in a collaborative environment.

Essential Functions:

  • Assist in maintaining financial models for investment opportunities and portfolio performance.
  • Support monthly financial reporting, variance analysis, and budget preparation.
  • Assist with lender and investor due diligence requests.
  • Update project cash flow models and financial assumptions.
  • Research market trends, financing terms, and investment opportunities.
  • Prepare presentations and reports for executive management.
  • Assist with portfolio reporting and dashboard preparation.
  • Perform data validation and quality checks.
  • Support ad hoc financial analyses and special projects.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Current undergraduate or graduate student pursuing Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or related field

  • Excellent written and verbal communication

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior internship experience
  • Financial modeling coursework
  • SQL, Power BI or VBA exposure

Work Environment:

This job operates in a professional office environment Monday through Friday.
